The historical center of the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the center is home to several important buildings including the Government Palace, Cathedral and Archbishop’s Palace. After exploring the city center head to the San Francisco Monastery which is famous for its catacombs where over 250,000 bones rest. After the day of exploring the city make sure you rest up for the next day’s exciting trip to Ica.
Day 2-3: The department of Ica holds a variety of different activities, on your first day you will head south on a 3 hour bus ride to the city of Pisco, Ica where you will depart on a flight over the incredible Nazca Lines, which is another of Peru’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Your hour flight over the lines will allow you to truly experience the entirety of the hieroglyphs. Your second day in Ica will take you to the Islas Ballestas. These islands are home to a variety of wildlife including sea lions, seals, penguins, and turtles, which all can be spotted during your comfortable boat tour. After the morning on the water you will depart Ica and return to Lima for your morning flight to Arequipa.
